job benchmarking

Research has shown that the cost of a hiring mistake is three to fifteen times the hire’s salary

       PLUS

the cost of lost knowledge, skills, and contacts and the cost of productivity.

If the job could talk, what would it say?

If a job could talk, it would identify the talent it needs:

  • Knowledge
  • Hard skills
  • Behavior
  • Rewards
  • Culture
  • Personal skills

The Business Solutions Coach® job benchmarking process enables the job to talk, empowering our clients to discover what the job needs to achieve superior performance, identify talent uniquely matched to the job, and vastly improve retention with a documented 92% retention rate.

In general, job benchmarking takes the guesswork out of hiring and workplace dynamics by making it easy to remove common biases often associated with the hiring process. Instead, factual data based on job requirements provide a solid foundation for hiring success and accountability.

Job Benchmarking Phases

Phase 1: Brainstorming Session

We lead the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in a brainstorming session about a key role’s attributes, why it exists, its various measures of success, and its strategic position within the organization.

Phase 2: Establish Key Accountabilities

We guide the SMEs in discussing and defining the position’s key accountabilities, ranking them by importance and time requirement.

Phase 3: Job Assessment

The SMEs respond to a job assessment survey and we combine their responses to create the job benchmark.

Phase 4: Results

The result is a profile that reflects the ideal candidate for the position.

Our clients can rely on this benchmark to search for the candidates that are most aligned with the needs and culture of their organization and best qualified for the role.

The documented key accountabilities become foundational for the success of the position, establishing a standard for the job to determine key performance indicators (KPIs) and other critical metrics for accountability.

Client Commitment

The job benchmarking process requires 3 to 7 SMEs to participate in a 4 to 5 hour brainstorming session and immediately respond to an online job assessment survey. The SMEs then return for a follow-up meeting to discuss the results of the benchmark and implementation strategy.
